The Dean


Dean of the College of Engineering: Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al Qasim


Definition:


He is a faculty member in the college who manages the academic, administrative and financial affairs of the college or institute within the limits of the system and its regulations and submits to the university president at the end of each academic year a report on educational affairs and other aspects of activity in the college or institute.


Dean's duties:


1 - Administrative and financial affairs:


1- Chairing the college council and supervising the organization of its affairs, inviting attendees to attend its sessions, implementing its decisions and sending the minutes of its sessions to His Excellency the university president.


2- Implementing the regulations and systems of the Higher Education Council.


3- Achieving the higher goals and policies at King Saud University.


4- Implementing the decisions of the university council regarding the college.


5- Supervising the preparation of the college's strategic plan and following up on its implementation.


6- Supervising the management of the college's educational, research, administrative, financial and cultural affairs.


7- Developing the college administratively, academically and research-wise.


8- Coordinating and developing the college's relations inside and outside the university.


9- Supervising the provision of all the college's educational, research, administrative and financial requirements.


10- Evaluating the performance of the college's agents, heads of academic departments, directors and heads of its affiliated units.


11- Preserving the college's fixed and movable properties.


12- Coordinating the work of the college's advisory council and implementing its recommendations.


13- Working to develop and enhance the college's own financial resources and improve its public image.


14- Supervising the planning and preparation of the college's budget.


15- Forming the necessary committees to perform the college's work.


16- Preparing a comprehensive periodic report on the progress of study and academic, administrative and research performance in the college and submitting it to His Excellency the University President.


17- Submitting to the University President based on what he receives from the department heads or what they notice about any breach of required duties or any other violations by a faculty member or those in his position.


18- Raising disciplinary issues related to students and college staff in accordance with the rules and regulations.


19- Carrying out the tasks delegated to him by the College Council.


20- Representing the college inside and outside the university.


21- Implementing what the university council or its director assigns him.


2- Academic Affairs:


1- Supervising the educational process, implementing its plans, and developing its academic programs.


2- Implementing quality, evaluation, and academic accreditation systems and regulations.


3- Supervising various student activities at the college.


4- Monitoring exam performance, and controlling order and discipline within the college.


5- Encouraging research in the college's various specializations.


6- Working to establish academic links with educational institutions inside and outside the Kingdom.


7- Supervising the recruitment of faculty members to the college.


8- Supervising the implementation of study plans and programs at the college.


Head of Media, Communication and Public Relations Unit: Dr. Abdul Majeed bin Muflih Al-Anzi


1- Role of the Unit:


It is the unit responsible for introducing the college's activities in the media, publishing its news in various media outlets, organizing the reception of delegations visiting the college, and following up on the requirements for organizing meetings and conferences within the college, as the unit is directly linked to the Dean of the College.


2- Tasks of the Head of the Media, Communication and Public Relations Unit:


1- Develop a comprehensive plan for media and public relations in the college.


2- Organize the college's programs of conferences, seminars and various scientific events.


3- Organize delegation visits to the college.


4- Work on coordinating the college's relations with the public inside and outside the university.


5- Cover the college's events, activities and programs in the media and press in local and international media outlets.


6- Manage the public relations team in the college.


7- Develop and enhance public relations programs and college events.


8- Supervise the financial affairs of public relations in accordance with the regulations and systems.


9- Communicate with various media outlets.


10- Implementing the tasks assigned to him by the Dean of the College.


3- Powers of the Head of the Media, Communication and Public Relations Unit:


1- Issuing internal decisions required for the smooth running of public relations work in accordance with the rules and regulations.


2- Disbursing from the public relations budget in accordance with the organizing regulations.
