Responsibilities of the Department Council

  • Recommend the approval of study plans and any amendments thereto.
  • Recommend the approval of academic programs, curricula, prescribed textbooks, and reference materials within the department.
  • Nominate distinguished non-full-time scholars to teach courses or supervise research and academic theses.
  • Recommend the appointment of visiting specialists, whether Saudi or international, for a specified period to teach in the department.
  • Propose admission and transfer regulations to and from the department.
  • Establish standing and ad hoc departmental committees.
  • Review matters related to faculty members, including contract requests, transfers, academic leave, post-leave scholarly achievements, promotions, and appointments under talent recruitment programs, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Review matters related to postgraduate students, including deferment, withdrawal, requests for additional study periods, re-enrollment, appointment of supervisors, thesis submission and examination committees, degree conferral, study plan amendments, admission procedures, and comprehensive examinations, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Propose new academic programs and development initiatives related to the programs offered by the college.
  • Nominate candidates for international awards when nominations are requested.
  • Review course equivalency requests and recommend approval or rejection.
  • Examine matters referred to it by the College Council or its Chairperson and provide recommendations and opinions.
