Responsibilities of the Head of the Department of Hadith Sciences
First: Planning
- Organize and chair department council meetings, supervise departmental affairs, implement council resolutions, and submit meeting minutes to the Dean.
- Conduct performance evaluations of faculty members, teaching assistants, lecturers, and newly appointed staff.
- Propose the formation of standing and ad hoc departmental committees and nominate their members.
- Nominate academic advisors and supervisors for postgraduate students.
- Nominate coordinators for shared courses.
- Report the commencement of duties of faculty members on scholarship or study leave.
- Nominate faculty members to participate in distance learning and summer semester programs.
- Recommend teaching overload compensation when teaching loads exceed the approved workload.
- Work toward achieving the University's objectives and policies.
- Implement decisions issued by the College Council and other higher authorities related to the department.
Second: Monitoring and Follow-up
- Oversee the preparation and implementation of the department’s strategic plan.
- Supervise academic, research, administrative, financial, and cultural affairs within the department and ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee the administrative, academic, and research development of the department.
- Provide guidance to faculty members and encourage, coordinate, and support scholarly research and publication.
- Monitor the submission, approval, and processing of students’ grades and review grade amendment requests.
- Follow up on faculty responsibilities, including office hours, lecture attendance, examination invigilation, and course report submissions through relevant systems.
- Review and approve reports submitted by academic supervisors and advisors.
- Oversee and approve teaching schedules and examination invigilation schedules.
- Supervise departmental staffing and resource requirements, including faculty, technicians, and administrative personnel.
- Coordinate with scholarship and training committees regarding sponsored students and trainees.
- Receive requests and correspondence from faculty members and students and take appropriate action.
Third: Evaluation
- Submit periodic reports to the Dean on departmental performance, assigned responsibilities, and any challenges encountered.
- Report unresolved violations or breaches of duty by faculty members or equivalent staff to the Dean.
- Submit an annual comprehensive report on the department’s activities, recommendations, and decisions.
- Submit a report to the College Council on the progress of scholarship students after half of their scholarship period has elapsed.
- Submit an annual detailed report on the department’s scholarship status to the College Council after departmental approval.
