Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers

The Institute for Teaching Arabic was established in the academic year 1386/1387 AH, based on the recommendation of the University’s Supreme Advisory Council at its second session, held on 29/07/1383 AH, under the name “Arabic Language Teaching Division for Non-Arabs.” Study at the Division was exclusively for non-Arab students who were not proficient in Arabic, with the aim of enabling them to reach a level at which they could pursue their studies at the University’s colleges, institutes, or affiliated institutions, according to their academic qualifications. In 1422 AH, the Council of Higher Education issued a decision to change the Division’s name to the “Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers.”

The following individuals successively served as directors of the Institute:

1. Dr. Ali bin Nasser Faqihi.
2. Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Qadri.
3. Dr. V. Abdur Rahim.
4. Sheikh Rashid bin Atiq Al-Ruhaili.
5. Sheikh Mustafa bin Ahmed Qannas.
6. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Hujaili.
7. Sheikh Hudhaid bin Safir Al-Saedi.
8. Sheikh Abdulhadi bin Omar Falatah.
9. Sheikh Abdullah bin Dhahir Al-Juhani.

After it became an academic institute, the following individuals successively served as deans of the Institute:

11. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Faqirullah Al-Balushi.
12. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Isa Al-Hazmi.
13. Dr. Amin bin Mustafa Al-Shanqiti.

15. Dr. Saleh Dhaifullah Al-Omari (Current Dean).
