The Establishment of the Deanship of the Deanship of Graduate Studies

The Establishment of the Deanship

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at the University was established by Ministerial Decree No. 7/2, dated 11/6/1416 AH, affirmed by Royal Approval via Telegraphic Directive No. 7/B/9045, dated 27/6/1416 AH. It is worth noting that graduate studies had already been in existence prior to the establishment of the Deanship, as Royal Decree No. M/70, dated 7/8/1395 AH, approved the Statute of the Islamic University, which was comprised of departments and colleges, among them: the Department of Graduate Studies.

The first graduate studies division was inaugurated on 23/11/1395 AH, after which the remaining divisions were successively opened, all operating under the Department of Graduate Studies at the University until the year 1411 AH, when graduate studies were merged into the colleges. This continued until the Deanship of Graduate Studies was established in 1416 AH. In the year 1445 AH, the Deanship of Scientific Research was merged with the Deanship of Graduate Studies to form a single deanship under the name: the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The name of the Deanship was then amended in 1447 AH to become the Deanship of Graduate Studies.
