About Department

The Social Responsibility Department serves as a key representative of community service and the university’s third mission. It places the delivery of distinguished community services among its highest priorities, reflecting the university’s excellence through its programs, objectives, and aspirations. The department seeks to establish effective strategic partnerships through the services it provides to local and international communities, in alignment with the university’s vision and mission.


The Islamic University was established by Royal Decree No. 11 dated 25/3/1381 AH, followed by Royal Decree No. 21 dated 16/4/1381 AH, to serve as a leading global Islamic beacon of knowledge and development.


Subsequently, approval was granted for the establishment of the Deanship of Community Service at the university pursuant to Ministerial Decision No. 8/2 dated 11/6/1416 AH.


Based on the Decision of the Council of University Affairs No. (1443/6/12) dated 13/9/1443 AH, and the Decision of the President of the Islamic University No. 91444440 dated 09/01/1444 AH, the Deanship of Community Service was transformed into the General Directorate of Community Service.


Later, pursuant to Administrative Decision No. 9144711748 dated 15/04/1447 AH, the President of the Islamic University issued Decision No. 9144720507 dated 19/06/1447 AH, renaming the General Directorate of Community Service as the Social Responsibility Department, affiliated with the University’s Office of International Cooperation and Partnerships.

To position the Social Responsibility Department as a global model for strengthening the connection between the university and both local and international communities.
