Department of Economics

Studying economics at the Islamic University of Madinah is an opportunity to acquire knowledge and a deep understanding of how economic decisions are made and their impact on society. Students learn how to analyze economic policies and understand modern economic challenges.


Study in the Department of Economics began when the Department of Islamic Economics was established pursuant to Royal Decree No. (5643/M B) dated 23/07/1431 AH, establishing the Department of Islamic Economics in the College of Sharia. It then moved to the College of Law and Economics under the name Department of Economics pursuant to the decision of the Council of Universities No. (2/16/45) dated 12/03/1445 AH. The Department of Economics offers three academic programs: a bachelor’s degree in Economics, and master’s and doctoral degrees in Islamic Economics at the postgraduate level. These programs aim to prepare scientifically and professionally qualified cadres in the field of economics and to produce high-quality economic research to serve the local and global community.


The Department of Economics at the College of Law and Economics, Islamic University of Madinah, provides distinguished educational programs covering a wide range of economic topics, including economic theories, government economic policies, economic development, Islamic economics and its institutions. The department is distinguished by outstanding teaching staff specialized in various branches of economics, and it always seeks to provide an inspiring and supportive educational environment for its students.


In its vision, the Department of Economics at the Islamic University of Madinah aspires to be a center of academic and research excellence. It seeks to encourage its students to examine, explore, and address contemporary economic challenges by offering academic programs and training workshops in economic knowledge and sciences, as well as scientific research skills, under the supervision of an elite group of distinguished faculty members at the college.


Undergraduate students in Economics at the College of Law and Economics, Islamic University of Madinah, receive intensive practical training during their study period, in addition to participating in scientific, professional, and economic training courses, such as skills in analyzing and preparing feasibility studies, econometric methods, contemporary economic theories, theories and rules of foreign trade, and other workshops and events organized by the college during the academic year.


The college’s postgraduate programs in Economics also provide students with opportunities to continue studying economic topics in greater depth and to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree in the field of Islamic Economics through conducting theoretical and applied studies and analyzing various economic phenomena.
