Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation

About Deanship

Quality Centers (or Units) in higher education institutions are considered an essential component in most countries where accreditation and quality assurance bodies have been established. Quality assurance is a process that can only be effectively carried out by the educational institution itself. This requires significant effort, distinguished leadership, and appropriate support from institutional leaders and those responsible for managing these centers.

Accordingly, the establishment of quality centers within educational institutions has become an important measure and a fundamental requirement of accreditation and quality assurance agencies for any higher education institution seeking academic accreditation and quality assurance.

The issue of quality centers and units has been among the key priorities of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, recognizing their vital role in fostering a culture of quality and supporting educational institutions in achieving the Commission’s objectives, which focus on quality assurance and the identification of best practices for advancing higher education in the Kingdom.

In their commitment to continuous development, various educational institutions have established such centers to support and facilitate their advancement efforts.

In response to these developments, the Islamic University Council issued Resolution No. (444/1428-1429), recommending the establishment of a deanship under the title "Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation" and submitting the recommendation to the Higher Education Council.

Subsequently, the esteemed Higher Education Council issued Resolution No. (17/51/1429) on 18/10/1429 AH, approving the establishment of the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation at the Islamic University.

This decision was endorsed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques through Telegram No. (963/MB) dated 3/2/1430 AH.

Thereafter, the Minister of Higher Education issued a decision appointing Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Otaibi as Dean of Quality and Academic Accreditation for a period of two years, effective 9/1/1431 AH.

Following the organizational restructuring of the Islamic University, the Deanship of Academic and Administrative Development was merged with the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation under the new title:

Deanship of Development and Quality.

Leadership in Quality Assurance and Development Practices.
