University

All praise be to Allah Almighty, Lord of the Worlds, and may the best of peace and blessings be upon His trustworthy messenger, and his household and companions.

One of Allah’s greatest blessings upon the leaders of this blessed land is serving Islam and spreading its creed, sound intellectual awareness, and establishing a true understanding of its grace and mercy. One of their proudest achievements is founding the Islamic University, to become a global institution serving Islam, spreading its disciplines of knowledge, preserving its heritage, conveying its eternal message to the whole world, educating Muslim students from all over the world, graduating scholars and specialists who know and conduct research in Islamic and Arab disciplines, as well as other branches and disciplines needed in Saudi and Islamic societies.

The university has attracted tens of thousands of students from all over the world since its establishment in 1381H. More than 20,000 students have graduated from the University and returned to their countries as pacifists of good and peace, carrying the legacy of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The university affords their education, culture, housing, and health, as well as transportation to and from the Prophet’s Grand Mosque. It also provides them travel tickets upon their admission and graduation, in addition to their annual round-trip summer vacation tickets to spend it with their families. The university aims to instil accurate Islamic thought in one's dealings and invites to God to become good examples in their countries and communities and embody the qualities and love of Islam.

It is known that the university system allows for philanthropists, businessmen and others, to contribute to support it by accepting donations, bequests, and endowments to be a source of support.

Since the Islamic University is located in the Prophet’s City, the most beloved land to Allah Almighty, and houses the Grand Mosque of the honorable prophet Muhammad, may the best of peace and blessings be upon him, , and from where goodness and peace spread, and who was and still is the leader in charitable projects such as “Awqaf,” endowments from charitable donations.

Therefore, Muslims from all around the world are keen to have endowments following the example of the Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him, his honorable companions, and those who follow.

And to revive this Sunnah of the Prophet and the pursuit of the Islamic University to achieve greatness in the concept of endowment in Islam and to assume its leading position in the Islamic world; it established the Endowments of the Islamic University and its organizing regulations, which was presented to its Board in its first session dated 3/9/1428 AH and approved by its resolution No. (16/1428/1429) .
